1. Please introduce yourself!
I’m Amos Drew, I go to Bayside Youth Annandale. I’ve had the opportunity to attend KYCK in Years 7 and 9, and I’m looking forward to attending again this year as a Year 12 student.
2. What was your KYCK experience like?
Each time, I’ve found the experience exciting and new. One thing that stood out to me was the massive number of young Christian high schoolers from all over NSW and beyond. Singing praises to the Lord together as one community was a particularly memorable experience, and it helped me appreciate the power we have of being a Christian under one voice
3. Tell us a KYCK highlight!
My most memorable highlight from KYCK was experiencing the emotional depth of the songs and worshiping alongside fellow teenage Christians – a feeling that will stay with me forever. Some of the best talks I have heard would be from KYCK, which I’ve always found to be interesting and profound, thanks to the speakers’ months of preparation to engage a young audience of high schoolers.
4. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?
At my school, I’m part of a small minority of Christians, which can make it difficult for me to fit in with my peers who hold different beliefs. Often, my non-Christian friends want to engage in activities that go against my values, making it challenging to spend time with them. However, through KYCK, I’ve discovered a supportive community of young Christians from various year groups who share my commitment to following Jesus. Being among like-minded individuals has helped me feel less isolated in my faith, and some conversations have significantly strengthened and encouraged me.
5. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?
I highly recommend KYCK as it offers a valuable learning experience and a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded Christians who share similar values. The eventful weekend is filled with songs, food, prayer, games, and worship. Although this is my last year at KYCK, I hope to return in the future as a leader and witness other young people grow in their own faith. It has been a blessing to be a part of KYCK.
6. How has being a Christian changed your life?
Being a Christian has given me a positive outlook on life. Fueled by the hope of eternal life and the promise of meeting my heavenly Father, it motivates me to walk in a manner worthy of God’s calling. It fills my life with joy, meaning, and opportunities to share the good news with others. Being a Christian, I can know that I’m never really alone as God is always there listening and watching over me; that encouragement keeps me striving to follow Him to the fullest of my abilities.
