A Living Room ‘Mini-Conference’: Katie’s OneLove Story

Distance didn’t stop Katie and a group of friends from gathering around God’s Word together. They turned their virtual OneLove experience into a living room ‘mini conference’ complete with coffee, pastries and conversations that stretched well into the evening.  In this story, Katie reflects on how OneLove has encouraged her faith as well as the beauty of unity across churches and generations.

An engaging woman speaking at a Christian mini-conference in a living room setting, highlighting faith and community.

1. Please introduce yourself and how many times you’ve attended OneLove.

I’m Katie Kjelsaas, a clinical psychologist and married mum of two based in Brisbane, Australia. This was my first time attending OneLove. I attended virtually and decided to invite a bunch of friends to my place to attend with me – we hosted our own ‘mini conference’, complete with swag bags, coffee, pastries and a pot-luck lunch. It was fabulous!

2. What was a highlight or moment from OneLove that really stuck with you?

I think what stood out most was the spirit and character of the whole event. I’m deeply passionate about church unity and to see so many women from so many different backgrounds, denominations, ethnic groups and age groups come together to worship God and learn from His Word was deeply inspiring to me – All One in Christ Jesus! – a taste of heaven!

3. Was there a particular talk or speaker that encouraged or challenged you? How so?

Jackie Hill Perry was excellent. I love her uncompromising commitment to preaching God’s word. Her messages were low comfort, high challenge. Loved that. Her message about Hannah was particularly moving for me and several of the women in our group – an encouragement to keep trusting God with our yet-unfulfilled visions and dreams…He is so faithful!

4. How did you see God at work during your time at OneLove?

At our ‘virtual gathering’ in Brisbane, several of us hung around for hours after the conference had finished to talk and pray together. In fact, we ended up doing this well into the evening. One of the women who’d attended decided to recommit her life to Christ and we were able to pray together and encourage her in this.

5. What would you say to someone considering coming to OneLove for the first time next year?

Don’t hesitate – it’s a unique and beautiful experience of solid Biblical teaching and inspiring church unity! A little taste of heaven.

Also, don’t attend alone – grab a friend or 20 and deepen the experience by sharing it with each other.

6. How has OneLove impacted your walk with Jesus as you return to everyday life?

I’m still regularly leafing back through the notes I took, and I’m encouraged anew each time I do. Sharing the experience also brought the women in my life closer to each other. Several have already asked me if we can do it again next year!

The promotional banner for the Katoomba Christian Convention 2026 highlights the theme “Satisfied,” emphasizing trust in God’s abundant provision, scheduled for Saturday, 22nd August 2026.

Our world tells a story: that satisfaction is just one more step away—one more achievement, one more purchase, one more moment of approval or control. But it seems the more we have, the more we want.

The Bible tells a better story: that true satisfaction isn’t about our circumstances, it’s about our hearts. It isn’t found in what we want, but in who we have: Jesus Christ.

Join us at OneLove 2026 to lift your eyes to Jesus and strengthen your trust in the One who abundantly provides. Register today.

And if you haven’t heard the news yet… Melissa will be joining us as a speaker at OneLove 2026! We can’t wait for you to get a taste of her teaching through these conversations.

1. The Deep Dish

The Deep Dish is a new podcast from TGC hosted by Melissa Kruger and Courtney Doctor that invites women into deep conversations about the deep truths of God. These discussions (which are always better served up with a slice of deep-dish pizza!) will equip women to engage in richer discipleship relationships in their local contexts. Tune in for warm conversations among friends—including special guests along the way—to dig deeper into God’s Word and explore how it applies to every area of our lives.

2. Let’s Talk

Let’s Talk is a podcast for women from The Gospel Coalition Podcast Network. On each episode, Jackie Hill Perry, Melissa Kruger, and Jasmine Holmes talk about a different topic and how to apply biblical wisdom to everyday life. Topics range from work, boundaries, conflict, spiritual gifts, and more.

3. How to Pursue Meaningful Mentoring Relationships

In this episode, Melissa Kruger discusses the importance of mentoring relationships for all Christians. She reflects on her own experiences learning life-changing lessons from older women, highlights some of the core aspects that should be in place in every mentoring relationship, and shares advice for overcoming the imposter syndrome that so many of us feel when it comes to helping others follow Christ.

4. Joy

“The object of our joy is the substance of our happiness. We like to rejoice in all these things, and we can go to God and say, ‘Thank you for my family, thank you for the fact that we have a meal to eat tonight, thank you that we have a house,” but he is the ultimate substance of our joy. The more we focus on him, the more we will be joyful!” – Melissa Kruger

5. Parenting with Hope

In this episode, Melissa talks about her her newest book “Parenting with Hope.”

Questions Covered in This Episode:

  • Can you give us a bit of a window into what your mornings look like and what role that plays in the discipleship of your family?
  • Will you share the story of wanting to write “Parenting with Hope”?
  • As your kids changed into teenagers what changed about you as a parent?
  • Why is that so foundational for parenting that parents are rooted in God’s word?
  • What are some of the things you learned about God through parenting?
  • What are some family habits that you think we could invite our kids into more ownership as they grow older?

5 Ways To Prepare for OneLove

OneLove 2025 is almost here! We’re so excited to gather with over 1,500+ women to sit under God’s Word and fix our eyes on Jesus. Whether this is your first time or your tenth, a little preparation can help you make the most of the day.

Here are five simple ways you can get ready in the lead-up:

1. Familiarise Yourself with the Songs

Worship is a beautiful part of the OneLove experience. Get to know the songs ahead of time so you can engage fully on the day. We’ve made it easy with our official OneLove 2025 Spotify playlist. Listen here

So whether you’re doing the dishes or driving to work, let these truth-filled lyrics shape your heart in the lead-up to the event.

2. Start Praying for OneLove

As we prepare to hear from Jackie Hill Perry, Valerie Ling, and Rachel Ciano, let’s also prepare our hearts in prayer.
Pray for softened hearts, smooth logistics, powerful teaching, and deep fellowship.

We’ve put together 4 weekly prayer points to guide you below.

3. Figure Out Your Transport

Planning your transport early will save stress on the day. While there’s plenty of parking onsite, we’d love to encourage carpooling with your friends!

You can also consider public transport options. It’s a 3 minute walk from Norwest Metro Station or short bus trip from Blacktown or Parramatta Stations.

4. Pack Smart for the Day

While OneLove will have food, books, and merch available, it’s a good idea to bring a few basics:

  • A water bottle
  • Your favourite pen to take notes
  • A physical Bible

5. Invite Someone to Join You

You never know who might say yes.

Whether it’s a friend from church, your sister, a neighbour or a coworker, OneLove can be a life-changing experience for someone who’s never been.

You can use our free promotional resources here.

5 Tips for Hosting OneLove from Home

You don’t have to be in a big city to experience OneLove. Whether you’re in the bush, by the coast, or a rural town in the middle of nowhere, you can still gather with women in your community and be refreshed by God’s Word. Hosting a OneLove watch party in your home or church is possible and easier than you think!

Here are 5 tips to help you host OneLove from home (or anywhere):

1. Invite the ladies!

Invite your Bible study, church friends, neighbours, or that friend who’s been meaning to come to something. Whether it’s one friend or twenty, sharing the day together can spark deep conversation and shared encouragement.

Yoy can use our free promo resources on the OneLove website!

2. Don’t forget the food!

Let’s be honest, food makes everything better. Set up a grazing board, do it potluck-style, or even order-in lunch for low-effort hosting!

3. Set the tone

Whether it’s your lounge room, church hall, choose a space that’s comfortable and big enough for your group. A big-enough screen and a space for cups of tea and heartfelt chats. Create a space that helps you be present. Have your Bible ready, light a candle, turn off your phone, and bring out the comfiest blankets you own!

4. Pause & reflect throughout the day

Don’t skip the chats! Allow space between sessions for quiet reflection, journaling, or a chat. Here are a few questions you can use to aid your reflection:

1. What is currently hindering my relationship with Jesus?

2. In what areas of my life do I need to trust God more fully?

3. Who in my life can I encourage or walk alongside in their faith?

4. What did I hear today that stirred my heart or convicted me?

5. How can I practically put these things into practice in my day-to-day life?

5. Keep the conversations going

You’ve got 30 days access so you can revisit a talk, or have a post-OneLove discussion!

A Front Row Seat to God’s Work: Sarah on the Joy of Volunteering

Meet Sarah, one of our OneLove committee members.

This National Volunteer Week, Sarah shares what excites her about OneLove 2025 and why volunteering is such a joyful privilege!

1. Please introduce yourself!
Hi I’m Sarah and I go to MBM in Rooty Hill and am part of the OneLove committee.

2. Coffee or tea?
I love drinking both tea and coffee. Coffee in the morning and tea in the evening.

3. Favourite worship song?
My favourite worship songs are hymns, particularly How Great Thou Art.

4. What are you looking forward to at OneLove this year?
I’m so excited for One Love this year, looking at the topic of Unhindered and what it means to live an unhindered life as Christian sisters. I’m looking forward to digging deep in God’s Word and being changed and challenged to be more like Jesus. I can’t wait to sing alongside hundreds of other women and for the chance to hear stories of how God has transformed the lives of women around us.

5. Why should women volunteer at OneLove?
We are known and loved by God and I think volunteering is such a privilege. We get to spend our time using the gifts God has given us for His glory, not to mention the fun we have along the way. We get a front row seat to see God at work at the conference and in the lives of other women. Such a joy!!

We get to spend our time using the gifts God has given us for His glory…

Living an Unhindered Life – OneLove 2025

What comes to your mind when you hear the word ‘unhindered’? You might picture the obstacles of a runner as she presses forward–a path littered with sticks and stone, her body begins to ache with fatigue or just as she has found her rhythm, the storm begins to roll in and suddenly she is drenched with rain.

Or perhaps you might picture a different runner–one equipped to tackle the hindrances. She is able to leap over the obstacles, her body is trained to endure and move past the pain, and when the storm comes, she doesn’t falter. She runs unhindered, not because the path is easy, but because she knows she is not alone. She relies fully on God, convinced of His power and presence in her life.

We know the truth of the Gospel. We know Jesus is our greatest treasure. We know eternity awaits. Yet, so often, we find ourselves limping rather than running with endurance in our faith.

We invite you to join us at OneLove 2025 as we dive into what it means to live an UNHINDERED life—free from the grip of sin, and the everyday demands, distractions, and doubts that weigh us down and hold us back. Together, lets strive for an UNHINDERED life—one marked by steadfast endurance and a faith that is wholly centred on Christ.

Our prayer for you this year at OneLove is that you would:

    1) Be deeply convinced that Jesus is Lord–worthy of your full devotion with your whole life and your whole self.
    2) Live with an eternal perspective, recognising that this life is brief and allowing that truth to shape your daily choices, priorities and pursuits.
    3) Develop spiritual clarity by identifying both the subtle and obvious hindrances in your life.
    4) Walk in Spirit-empowered freedom and understanding how to activitly shed hindrances and put sin to death through God’s strength, not merely willpower.
    5) Commit to transformation by courageously taking practical steps to overcome at least one specific area in your life that is hindering your pursuit of Christ and His calling.

    Meet our 2025 Speaker

Join us on Saturday 23rd August 2025 as we welcome back international speaker Jackie Hill Perry to unpack this year’s theme.

Jackie Hill Perry preaches at OneLove 23

Jackie Hill Perry is an author, poet, bible teacher and hip-hop artist. Since becoming a Christian, she has been compelled to use her speaking and teaching gifts to share the light of the gospel of God as authentically as she can.

Jackie last spoke at OneLove in 2023, where she spoke on the topic “Worthy of Trust: The God Who Sees Us”, and in 2021 on the topic “Made for More: Created for Holiness”.

“Jackie’s bible-based teaching was so aligned with the word. Her clear understanding of biblical history was so helpful in taking us through various books of the Bible that link stories that might be years/decades apart. And then applying those stories to how we might see ourselves through the lens of those stories was also really helpful in applying God’s word in our own lives.”

    – Brenda, OneLove 2023 attendee
