My Rock in a World of Sand: Pollyanna’s KYCK Story
Welcome to Testimony Tuesday! These are stories of faith, transformation, and encouragement from our KYCK attendees. In this story, we hear from Pollyanna and how KYCK has strengthened her relationship with God and reminded her of His unshakable presence through the ups and downs of high school life.
1. How many KYCKs have you been to?
I’ve gone to 2 KYCKs and both times it was the best!
2. Can you share what your KYCK experience was like?
As soon as you arrive you feel swept up in the incredible atmosphere. Reading “All One in Christ Jesus” and seeing the space flood with people people makes that statement even more impactful. Even though it is a short time, I get so much out of KYCK. I become closer to God and my Christian friends whilst getting to meet new people from all around New South Wales. It’s AMAZING!
3. Tell us a KYCK highlight!
My absolute favourite thing from KYCK is the worship. Having that many people in one space, not to mention the people online, all singing to one incredible, powerful, almighty God is amazing. I remember my first KYCK, turning around and being in awe of God’s love toward every single person there – not to mention the 8 billion others in the world.
4. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?
After term 1, the summer camp high has usually dwindled and after all the craziness of school, I feel like I have drifted from God. KYCK helps me remember He’s in control and to keep my eyes set on Him.
Also, seeing just how many teenagers there are that love Jesus or are willing to hear about Him is always so encouraging.
5. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?
KYCK is a great camp because it is short but so so powerful and it allows you to meet new people who are going through a similar journey in high school, connecting through Jesus and His power in our lives.
I remember that God is always there and has the power to provide peace and make my path straight. I lean on Him as my rock when everything else feels like sand.
6. How has being a Christian changed your life?
Being Christian has changed my life for the better in so many ways! The biggest difference for me is having a peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). God is always there no matter what and that is what I need as a high school student. With the stress from school, friends and social media (basically everything), I remember that God is always there and has the power to provide peace and make my path straight. I lean on Him as my rock when everything else feels like sand.

Meet OneLove Chairwoman: Amy Townsend
In 2025, we are so pleased to welcome Amy Townsend as the new chairwoman for OneLove women’s conference. In this interview, Amy shares how she came to faith, her deep appreciation for conferences, and what she hopes women will get to experience at OneLove this year.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hey there! I’m Amy, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new Chairperson for OneLove. I’m married to Jesse and we have two little ones, Penny and Noah. During the week, I work as a Community and Student Care Worker at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC), where I support students and foster Christ-centred community. I also serve as an Assistant Pastor at St Marks in Freshwater, where I have the privilege of guiding people toward Jesus. In my downtime, I love journalling, make jewellery, hitting the gym, and eating cheese. I cannot wait to connect with all of you at OneLove! I am praying for each and every person God intends to bring along. See you soon!
How and when did you come to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
I did not grow up in a Christian home, yet I can’t remember a time when I didn’t believe in God. As I explored the world around me—God made sense! So, as a child in primary school, I eagerly participated in Scripture classes, memorising Bible verses and completing craft activities. But in many ways, my faith was centred on ‘getting it right for God.’ It wasn’t until I attended a Youth Camp in high school that I truly encountered the person of Jesus. This is when I first grasped the Gospel and came to understand that its not about what I can do for God, it is about what God has done for me in his Son, Jesus Christ.
On the final day of the camp, the speaker shared a song that traced the story of Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension. The last verse focused on His return, and I remember being overwhelmed by the reality of it. I thought, ‘Jesus is coming back! King of Kings and Lord of Lords! The trumpets will sound, the heavens will roar, and… I want to be on Team Jesus!’
That was a critical moment in my faith journey. Although, I have to confess, it still took many, many years for me to begin unpacking what it meant to live as a disciple of Christ. I found my time at university to be particularly difficult. In my early twenties, however, I moved out of home and, by God’s providence, ended up living with two Christian girls who were also at uni. It was through them that I saw what it truly meant to follow Jesus. I was struck by the way they prayed—bringing everything, big and small, before God. They loved Jesus! And found joy in following him. I will forever be thankful for these two beautiful role models, and my hope and prayer is that God might use me as a role model to others on their journey with Jesus.
What inspired you to come on board to chair OneLove?
I have a deep appreciation for conferences and the unique experiences they offer. Few occasions allow us to gather in such large numbers to collectively sing praises to God, sit under the authority of His Word, and engage in prayer. Conferences create a special environment for connection with God and with each other—providing opportunities to meet new people, encourage one another, learn, and grow in faith.
As the Chairperson for OneLove, it is my privilege to prayerfully consider the various elements of the day that will help us grow more and more into the image of Christ. It is my honour to pray for the OneLove community and to work diligently, under God’s guidance, to ensure that our time together is impactful for Christ’s glory, and our good.
What do you think are the greatest challenges facing Christian women in Australia today?
Life can feel overwhelmingly busy—with countless responsibilities and distractions vying for our attention every minute. Even when I carve out time to slow down and connect with God, I sometimes struggle to know where to start. I notice a tendency to crave productivity, stimulation…anything but ‘stillness’. And I know I’m not alone.
I believe one of the most significant challenges for Christian women in Australia is navigating the tension between the busyness of daily life and the essential stillness that nurtures our spiritual lives. Many women are juggling many things: working, supporting our families, engaging with our church communities, catching up with friends, and maintaining our health. All of these commitments are significant, yet they can crowd our lives and distract us from coming to the foot of the cross.
So, what does it look like to navigate these aspects of everyday life that, so often, feel in tension with our Christian lives? My hope and prayer is that OneLove will provide time and space for Christian women to commune with God, to be reminded of the supremacy of Christ, to reorient their hearts toward him, and to uncover new tools and new zeal to live like Christ in any and every context.
What is your hope for OneLove this year and why should women set time aside to come?
My hope and prayer for OneLove 2025 is that women of all ages and life stages will come and encounter the Risen Lord Jesus—that they will grow in their love for Him, deepen their knowledge of Him, and be stirred to follow, serve, and make bold life changes and sacrifices for Him. I pray that every woman who attends will leave OneLove encouraged, refreshed, and renewed in her journey with Jesus.
OneLove is an opportunity for us, as sisters in Christ, to commune with God and with each other. I look forward to seeing how God will move among us during this special event! Until then, this is my prayer for the women of OneLove: that God might fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:9-14).

“A Spiritual Intensive For Our Family”: Amelia’s KEC Story
For Amelia and her family, Katoomba Easter Convention (KEC) isn’t just a yearly event—it’s a cherished tradition that has shaped their faith over the years. From attending as a teenager in the Junior High program to now bringing her own children along, Amelia shares why KEC is a “spiritual intensive” for the family, equipping them with the tools to stand firm in their faith.
1. Please introduce yourfamily!
Hi my name is Amelia and I am married to Pete. We have two daughters, Norah, who is 4 years old and Florence, who is 6 months. We go to Maitland Evangelical Church in the Hunter Valley and together we’ve attended about ten KEC’s. Plus, we’ve volunteered on the Junior High team and we’ve listened online.
2. What made you start attending KEC?
Initially, I came along to KEC with my family and I attended the Junior High program. It was freezing cold that year and we were all squeezed into Clairvaux. I remember the talks were on the theme of ‘Killing the Me-First Monster.”
Being from rural NSW, my first KEC was quite an impactful experience because at the time I only had one other Christian friend, and the concept of actively fighting against our sinfulness was pretty unfamiliar.
Going to KEC that first time brought forth so much fruit in my life because it encouraged me to develop healthy spiritual habits, plus it was super fun! Now that I am Mum, I’ve been praying that KEC will be an encouragement to my girls just like it was me!
Now that I am Mum, I’ve been praying that KEC will be an encouragement to my girls just like it was me!
3.What is the highlight of your KEC experience?
Picking just one highlight is such a tough task because each year I am so richly blessed. However, last year we decided to take our daughter Norah along to the night program despite it being well past her bedtime. After the shared dinner in the courtyard, we went into the auditorium and Norah was immediately excited by the buzz. She was welcomed by many different people and was so comfortable that when the music started, she sang along and danced in the aisle.
It was particularly encouraging for me because it gave me a real sense of God’s big family and it gave us a chance to worship together. Moreover, I was really grateful that she felt like the ‘big program’ was as much for her as it was for the adults. If you’re apprehensive about taking your kids along to the night program, don’t be!
4. How has KEC encouraged you and your kids’ faith?
Norah recently had the opportunity to complete an ‘intensive week’ at our local swim school. And although she can already swim, she attended 6 lessons over the week and was taught the survival skills she needed to feel confident in the water. I feel as though KEC is a bit of a spiritual intensive for our family, teaching us the survival skills we need to stay firm in the faith.
I feel as though KEC is a bit of a spiritual intensive for our family, teaching us the survival skills we need to stay firm in the faith.
My husband and I always learn something new about the character of God and as a result, we’re refreshed, renewed and convicted. We leave KEC confident that God will continue to be faithful throughout whatever hardships we might face in the coming year.
Likewise, the kids program spurred my daughter on to tell her friends about Jesus. She still remembers the songs she sang and she often talks about going back to “Easter-Vention”.
5.Why would you recommend KEC to other families?
In the past, KEC has been freezing cold, our family has been over-tired, we’ve spent an hour waiting in traffic and we’ve exhausted ourselves trying to carry our daughter up that massive hill! But each and every year, we have been spurred on to love Christ more. KEC has yielded so much spiritual growth in each of us that it’s worth all the inconveniences.
And plus, the inconveniences are the exact same as the ones you’d be having if you’d stayed home! So why not experience them alongside a thousand other Christians in the beautiful Blue Mountains! The KEC coordinators have done a really great job of making the convention accessible for families. There is a well-equipped parent’s room and there is always someone who is happy to help out if you need.
There’s something for everyone at KEC. We can’t wait to see you in the mountains over Easter!

Why Every Young Christian Should Experience KYCK: Estelle’s Story
KYCK has been a cornerstone of Estelle’s spiritual journey for the past five years. In this story, she reflects on the highlights from KYCK24, what impacted them most, and why they believe KYCK is something that every young Christian should experience.
1. Introduce yourself and how many KYCKs have you been to?
My name is Estelle and I’m in Year 12. I attend Wilton Anglican Youth. I’ve been to KYCKs for 5 years so far (including KYCK online!)
2. Tell us a KYCK highlight!
KYCK24 was so much fun, I had a blast! A weekend away to get to know those in my youth group better, to build our relationships with one another and spur each other on in Christ. The music was amazing as always, I loved how much everyone got into it, especially with the songs “Praise” and “Take You at Your Word” which I have had on non-stop repeat since. The talks really encouraged me and others in my youth group to think about our identity in Christ. Seeing so many of my friends commit themselves to Christ on Saturday night was very emotional. God’s presence in that shed was definitely felt and it was incredible.
3. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?
The talks at KYCK are always so practical, easy to make links to and apply to my life. Seeing so many Christians in one space is amazing. It encourages me in my faith journey and serves as a reminder that we’re not alone, that we have Christian brothers and sisters from all over going through life with us too.
4. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?
KYCK is honestly the highlight of my year. Time away with your brothers and sisters in Christ is a great way to build yourself and each other up in faith and get to know each other better. The talks, the games, the music, friendship and God… what’s not to love? The atmosphere is so great it’s hard to describe, you have to go to understand it. If you’re wondering whether to go or not, give it a try and I promise you, you won’t want to go back!
5. How has being a Christian changed your life?
Christianity changes the way I view things in my day-to-day life. Knowing that I have a God-given purpose and that I’m living my life for Jesus makes me want to do everything to the best of my ability. It also helps me gain a better perspective on what I value most in my life.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend KYCK at the best price! Early bird tickets are only available until February 9, so now is the perfect time to secure your spot. Gather your friends and rally your youth group! Head to the KYCK website today to grab your tickets before prices go up!

“A Turning Point in My Faith”: Reuben’s KYCK Story
Over the years, countless stories have emerged of young people encountering God in profound ways, recommitting their lives to Him, and building friendships that last a lifetime. In this story, we hear from Reuben as he reflects on his journey with KYCK—from his first experience as a high school student to their current role as a leader (St Michael’s Wollongong) and volunteer. Reuben’s story reminds us of the power of God’s Word, the strength found in Christian community, and the hope we have in Jesus.
1. How many KYCKs have you been to?
I’ve attended KYCK since 2019! I was in Year 11 at the time. I believe the theme was “Believe. Love. Remain” on John.
2. Can you share what your KYCK experience was like?
It was one of the turning points of my Christian faith. On Saturday night, I made the step to refocus my faith and recommit to God. God worked so powerfully through my youth group at the time. It was such a wonderful experience seeing so many Christians singing along and listening to God’s Word.
3. Tell us a KYCK highlight!
Even though KYCK19 was such a huge part of my turnaround in the faith, it isn’t the biggest highlight. The biggest highlight for me was last year (2024). This was a challenging time due to an unexpected passing of a friend. Despite this, God worked so powerfully during my time at KYCK. It was so encouraging seeing how God changed so many lives of those around me – to those who I was leading and when I was volunteering.
4. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?
KYCK is an amazing starting ground in jumping into the Bible and learning more about God. I honestly learnt so much when I was in school, and that learning has continued even through leading and volunteering. KYCK every year, gives me a reason to keep going, to keep holding steadfast in my walk with Christ.
5. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?
KYCK is such an encouraging experience. It is equally as hard-hitting, I know that God can work in every situation. I know that it could be the seed for my friend who may not be a Christian yet. I know that it is a place for Christians who strayed away, to get a taste again of what and who Christians are.
We can trust in God in these circumstances because he softens the hearts of many and He is always in control. We can have confidence in this. I would recommend KYCK to others to show them the abundant love of Jesus Christ and no matter what happens. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore.
6. How has being a Christian changed your life?
Being a Christian has changed the way that I view life and the way that I treat others. Christ is the reason why I can find hope in the bad times even when everything is against it. The assurance that I have in Christ, that we will see our brothers and sisters in Christ again, why wouldn’t I want to show others this love too?
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend KYCK at the best price! Early bird tickets are only available until February 9, so now is the perfect time to secure your spot. Gather your friends and rally your youth group! Head to the KYCK website today to grab your tickets before prices go up!

4 Ways to Grow into the New Year
As we near the end of the year, we can often be in reflection about our hopes, goals and experiences of the year gone by. How has 2024 been for you? How has it been in relationship with God? Do you already have specific things you want to shift or change next year? Perhaps there are things you’ve put in place this year that you’re keen to continue to do.
We’ve picked out some snippets from our events and app this year that have encouraged and challenged us, and hope it will be helpful for you as you look toward 2025.
1. Love the Lord with everythingyou have
This call and reminder will never get old for us, regardless of whether we are looking to a fresh new year or not. At KEC 2024, Tim Blencowe walked us through Deuternomy 6, with this reminder to love God, the perfect Giver:
"You really must love Him with everything you've got because anything else is not love. When He says, 'all your heart', that's the driving seat of your life, the centre. Nothing on the side, please, for God. When He says, 'with all your soul', 'that's everything within me', says the psalmist in Psalm 103. It's your whole of you. Let's be in it, all body and soul ... Whatever power you have, whatever muscle you have, from your bank account to your daily breath - whatever strength you have - pour it all out for Him." (Tim Blencowe, Love the Lord with all your Heart, KEC 2024)
2. Build spiritual ‘rhythms’
Mitch Everingham’s short series on ‘Forming Resilient Rhythms‘ encouraged us to look at how we grow in godliness through the way we approach and integrate spiritual practices into our lives – not just as habits set aside for particular segments of our day, but as a constant presence in our everyday.
"This is why our rhythms are more than just habits. The Scriptures don’t say, 'set aside 10 minutes each morning to read the Bible and that means you’ll grow in godliness and love for others.' Rather they encourage us to move through life with, for example, the Scriptures on our minds as often as possible (Psalm 1), because this is the true path to godliness." (Mitch Everingham, Growing in Godliness by Cultivating Rhythms)
3.Stay in community
One area that can often be overlooked in the busyness of life is the quality of our relationships with others. When Sam Allberry joined us at BASECAMP this year, he instilled in us a real hopefulness for community – that we are not meant to be alone, but to experience the joy and strength that comes from being known and loved (just as Jesus loves and calls us his brothers).
"In 2 John, he ends the letter by saying, 'I have much to write to you. I'd rather not use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may be complete.' John is saying, 'I've got a lot to get through with you. I'd rather not use paper and ink.'
It's not because John is a cheapskate and can't be bothered to buy another piece of paper and write on it. John is saying, 'If we talk face to face, if I'm physically with you, our joy will be complete.' There is joy in receiving a letter. There is joy in having a phone call. There is joy in getting a text message, but it's incomplete joy if we're not relating face to face, physically, in person with one another." (Sam Allberry, Brothers in Christ, BASECAMP 2024)
4. Exercise?
Something a lot of us hadn’t considered was the practice of physical exercise in relation to our spiritual walk with Jesus. This series by Amy Townsend on “Should Christians Exercise?” was an eye-opening opportunity for us to consider this – whether we needed to reframe our motivations for exercise, or look to building in physical exercise – for the glory of God and the good of others.
"As Christians, we understand the temporary nature of our bodies. So why spend time and energy looking after what we know is perishing? While there is value in keeping eternity in sight and not holding too tightly to our physical forms, the bodies God has given us have significance and purpose! We were created as embodied beings and will live forever as embodied beings.
Jesus demonstrates this at his resurrection ... it is important we recognise that God has purposes for our bodies—not just in the future but also in the here and now. And so, an appropriate amount of self-care is necessary for us to do the good works God has purposed for us to do (Ephesians 2:10)." (Amy Townsend, Why Exercise?)
Dedicate some time away to sit under God’s Word in 2025
Finally – with all our 2025 events now open for registration, we encourage you to consider setting aside some time away to join us. Dedicate some time our of your everyday; block out dates and come gather with fellow brothers and sisters to sit under God’s Word, worship and grow together in 2025!

Help Light a Spark in the Next Generation
KCC began its ministry to young people 50 years ago, and it is one of the best things the ministry has done in its 120 years. It has impacted hundreds and thousands of lives, and under God, it has been taken by Him from strength to strength.
One example is our KYCK ministry. Every year, across the four weekends, somewhere between 200 and 500 teens make either first-time commitments or re-commitments of their lives to Jesus Christ. And this has been happening every year for at least 20 years.
We want to see the same impact in the lives of Young Adults, so we’ve announced the launch of Spark Conference in 2025, and we need your help to give it a strong footing.
Why Young Adults?
Every year at KYCK, we say goodbye to a large cohort of Year 12 students as they finish high school. The question for us is, what do these kids step into after they step out of high school? What happens after KYCK?
What all of us need, but especially young adults, is something that keeps shining the light of God’s truth onto life. Young adults need something that reminds them that life has been given to them to glorify the Giver. Something that reminds them to lay their life down before God and ask Him, “What do you want me to do?”
We believe Spark is that “something” for Young Adults – a convention that urges them not to waste their life, but to consecrate it to God for His use. An event that they can step in to immediately after they step out of high school.
We have this opportunity to run a pilot event in 2025, and if successful, turn it into an annual event for years to come.
Whether you have a young adult in your family, or group of friends, or not, we are asking you to consider investing in them and sow into them.

Urging and inspiring young adults in their commitment to Christ
Starting in 2025.
Spark urges and inspires young adults to be wholehearted in their commitment to Jesus Christ.
Young adulthood is a formative time of life: you’re finding your own way and making decisions that could steer the course of your life. And you’re doing that while the world is relentlessly selling you its dream of who and what you could and should become.
As a Christian, to navigate that wisely, you need to be well-grounded in understanding what your life is for. Because the truth is you only get one shot at life, and it’s the dressing room for all eternity. So how you use every hour, how you spend every day, how you invest every year, really matters.
Nancy’s talk from Hosea was just such a powerful demonstration of God’s love for me and it was in a way I’d never heard before and it just struck a chord with me. I was crying … I couldn’t deny God any longer!
