9 Ways To Prepare For KYCK25

Across three weekends this April, high schoolers across NSW will gather for the KYCK youth conference. Speakers Nathan Lee and Danny Mitchell will teach from the book of Galatians about freedom in Christ. Special guest Polly Butterworth will also be returning to the platform with an interactive seminar!

If you’re joining us this month, here are 9 ways to prepare your hearts and minds for KYCK:

1. Get pumped for worship with the KYCK 25 playlist

Looking for the perfect soundtrack to get ready for KYCK 25? Whether you’re after high-energy worship or quiet praise for reflection, this playlist will help you learn the songs we’ll be singing together. Listen now!

2. Get ready for our photo scavenger hunt

KYCK ON isn’t happening this year, but we’ve got something just as exciting—a photo scavenger hunt with limited edition tees up for grabs!

To join, you’ll need a social media account (or you can use your youth group’s). Get ready to crack riddles and questions over the weekend and put your puzzle-solving skills to the test!

3. Meditate on the book of Galatians

Make the most of KYCK by diving into Galatians before the weekend. Spend time reflecting on what it truly means to be free in Christ. Have questions? Write them down so you can discuss it with your group too.

4. Learn the memory verse!

Commit the memory verse to heart. This year, it’s Galatians 2:20.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

5.Start packing!

Start with the essentials—a Bible (physical is best for fewer distractions), a notebook/ your favourite pen to jot down key takeaways, and comfortable clothing suited for the unpredictable mountain weather. Mornings and evenings can be chilly, so layer up with a warm jacket or hoodie. If rain is on the forecast, don’t forget a raincoat or umbrella.

Other handy items? A water bottle to stay hydrated and money if you’re planning to grab food or merch.

6. Pray for God to work powerfully through KYCK

Prayer is powerful! Please join us in committing KYCK to God in prayer:

  • Praise God for the 5,500+ youth that are attending KYCK25. Pray for His protection over us on site at Katoomba.
  • Pray that as the gospel is preached at KYCK, the Spirit will work powerfully in the hearts of youth, that they will be challenged to live out the freedom that comes from being children of God.
  • Pray that God will protect our speakers Nathan and Danny ahead of KYCK. Pray that they will preach the true gospel clearly and faithfully as well as what it means to be justified by faith in Christ alone.
  • Pray that KYCK will be an opportunity for youth who don’t know Jesus to meet Him for the first time.

7. Stay up to date with KYCK on socials and the KCC One app

Stay up to date with the latest KYCK news, and interact with our live segments by following us on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok. Download the KCC One App to gain daily encouragement from KCC’s library of sermons, topical talks, testimonies, and devotionals in audio, text and video formats.

8.RSVP for the Saturday Night BBQ

Support high school scripture and teachers by purchasing the Saturday night BBQ at KYCK. Held each Saturday, 6.15pm-7.15pm in the Plaza, it’s $8 per person and includes 2 sausage sandwiches & a soft drink! RSVP here.

“I Had Been Praying for Years” – A Testimony of Faith at KEC

For Camille, attending Katoomba Easter Convention (KEC) for the first time wasn’t just about hearing great Bible teaching or enjoying time in the mountains — it was about witnessing God’s transforming power in a close friend’s life. Though she only attended one night session, Camille left deeply encouraged by the unity, worship, and impact of the gospel at KEC.

1. Can you please introduce yourself and when you started attending KEC?

My name is Camille. I’m 24 and I’ve been fortunate to be Christian all my life. I went to KEC last year with my boyfriend Peter, and another couple – Eliza and Ben. They were there for the entire weekend, but Peter and I just attended the night session. This was my first ever KEC!

2. What made you start attending KEC?

I came along to KEC because of Eliza. She has always one of my closest friends but wasn’t a Christian. She had been brought along to KEC the year before (2023) by her partner’s family, and later described to me how she was so moved during the weekend that it brought her to tears.

That weekend was a massive turning point for her and now she has a relationship with Jesus! When she invited me to come along last year, I was really interested to see what it was all about, and what exactly it was about KEC that had been so powerful for her.

3. Can you share a KEC highlight?

I think my highlight was standing in the congregation, next to Eliza, thinking just how incredible it was that we were here, together, worshipping God. I had been praying for Eliza for many years and it was just so incredible to see her fully embracing the faith and so changed. We don’t go to the same church, so this is still a new and special experience for me.

I had been praying for Eliza for many years and it was just so incredible to see her fully embracing the faith and so changed.

4. Why would you recommend KEC to others?

KEC has been an encouragement to me in many ways, but particularly in how it has shaped Eliza’s journey. Even though I only attended one night session, I would recommend KEC as it was a beautiful way to spend Easter, surrounded by God’s family. It’s not often you’re singing with a chorus of hundreds of Christians or praying alongside that many brothers and sisters in one place. So, I really appreciate the opportunity that KEC offers for Christians from different walks of life to come together.

Whether you spend the whole day or just join us for an evening session, there’s something for everyone at KEC. We can’t wait to see you in the mountains over Easter! Register here.

Not sure how to make the most of your day? Here’s a simple guide to help you plan your visit and enjoy everything KEC has to offer.

From Despair to Hope: How God Changed Noah’s Life at KYCK

(Noah, right, with his best friend at KYCK)

For Noah, attending KYCK for the first-time last year was a life-changing experience. What began as doubt turned into a complete renewal of faith, transforming his view of the Bible and gave him hope and purpose.

1. Introduce yourself and how many KYCKs have you been to?

My name is Noah, I go to BXYouth and I’m in Year 11 this year. I attended my first year KYCK last year! I decided to go to KYCK when one of my school friends said they were going and asked me to come along.

2. What was your KYCK experience like?

It was an unforgettable experience that encouraged me to give my life to Jesus. The talks were well planned out and the music was amazing.

3. Tell us a KYCK highlight!

My favourite memory from KYCK would be the Saturday night talk. Listening to the love and passion to save even just one soul that night pushed me enough to trust in Jesus and love Him with my entire heart, mind and soul. As I walked out of the plaza, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief and safety because I had chosen to follow Jesus. I went and sat with a leader and felt like I had overcome my fears.

I felt an overwhelming sense of relief and safety because I had chosen to follow Jesus.

4. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?

KYCK didn’t only just encourage my faith, but completely changed it. Before going to KYCK I believed the Bible was just a silly story. I didn’t really listen to what the teachers had to say in the Bible studies class in school. But once I went to KYCK, my view was completely renewed, I came to trust in Jesus and will never go back!

5. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?

I would recommend KYCK to others for them to strengthen their faith, or even come to Jesus as I did. I believe everyone deserves a chance to hear the Word of God, and one of the best and most fun ways to do that is KYCK!

6. How has being a Christian changed your life?

Before I became a Christian I didn’t have much hope for myself or the world. However, after coming to God, I had a chance to lay my worries down with Him, and He took them and gave me hope. Coming to faith is the most amazing and important thing I have done in my life, and I have so much love for God that He chose to save everyone.

“My Favourite Time of the Year”: Kayla’s KEC Story

Kayla’s journey with Katoomba Easter Convention (KEC) began when she was just five years old, attending alongside her parents. What started as a childhood tradition quickly became one of the most formative influences on her faith. Through the faithful example of other Christians and digging into God’s Word, Kayla has found a place that continues to strengthen her faith year after year, reminding her that ‘we aren’t alone’.

1. Can you please introduce yourself and when you started attending KEC?

My name is Kayla and I been to 20 Easter conventions starting from when I was five years old! I started attending with my Mum and Dad and now with my husband Jono, since we got married in 2022.

Kayla (left) with her mum and her husband, Jono

2. What made you start attending KEC?

It was definitely my parents’ decision for that first year (I was a child haha) but it very quickly became just about my favourite time of the year. I so looked forward to the kids program each year and catching up with the same friends each year. As an adult, I continue to attend as I find so much value in spending solid time in God’s word and in fellowship with other Christians from all over NSW and beyond.

3. Can you share a KEC highlight?

Growing up attending the kids program every year was a highlight. Being encouraged by other Christians my age as well as the leaders who I always thought were so cool. I would recite the memory verses, the talks and discussion times played a huge part in my Christian journey and in my growth as a Christian.

As an adult, the talks each year are a definite highlight. Working through multiple different parts of the Bible each convention means a lot gets covered in only 4 days and hearing from speakers from around Australia and the world can give different perspectives and ways of explaining things that is so helpful.

And then of course spending a long weekend away in the beautiful Blue Mountains each year with family is special as well.

4. How has KEC encouraged your faith?

I think there are more moments, memory verses and talks from my childhoods at KEC that have influenced my faith and helped my faith endure than I can remember. Even just gathering with so many Christians from all walks of life and know that we all love and serve the Lord and are brothers and sisters in Christ is so encouraging each year. It really reminds me that we aren’t alone in our faith and even just how powerful the Lord is.

It really reminds me that we aren’t alone in our faith and even just how powerful the Lord is.

5. Why would you recommend KEC to others?

Attending as a child and growing up at KEC was such a blessing. I’m thankful that my parents made this part of our yearly routine. It’s even just so valuable having other Christians faithfully modelling a life lived for Christ to your children, especially when they are teens and might not want to hear about God from you!

I think now as an adult, it is so encouraging to spend solid few days immersed in the word in a beautiful part of God’s creation and to be reminded that we are part of something so much bigger than ourselves – being part of God’s family.

It’s even just so valuable having other Christians faithfully modelling a life lived for Christ to your children, especially when they are teens and might not want to hear about God from you!

My Rock in a World of Sand: Pollyanna’s KYCK Story

Welcome to Testimony Tuesday! These are stories of faith, transformation, and encouragement from our KYCK attendees. In this story, we hear from Pollyanna and how KYCK has strengthened her relationship with God and reminded her of His unshakable presence through the ups and downs of high school life.

1. How many KYCKs have you been to?

I’ve gone to 2 KYCKs and both times it was the best!

2. Can you share what your KYCK experience was like?

As soon as you arrive you feel swept up in the incredible atmosphere. Reading “All One in Christ Jesus” and seeing the space flood with people people makes that statement even more impactful. Even though it is a short time, I get so much out of KYCK. I become closer to God and my Christian friends whilst getting to meet new people from all around New South Wales. It’s AMAZING!

3. Tell us a KYCK highlight!

My absolute favourite thing from KYCK is the worship. Having that many people in one space, not to mention the people online, all singing to one incredible, powerful, almighty God is amazing. I remember my first KYCK, turning around and being in awe of God’s love toward every single person there – not to mention the 8 billion others in the world.

4. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?

After term 1, the summer camp high has usually dwindled and after all the craziness of school, I feel like I have drifted from God. KYCK helps me remember He’s in control and to keep my eyes set on Him.

Also, seeing just how many teenagers there are that love Jesus or are willing to hear about Him is always so encouraging.

5. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?

KYCK is a great camp because it is short but so so powerful and it allows you to meet new people who are going through a similar journey in high school, connecting through Jesus and His power in our lives.

I remember that God is always there and has the power to provide peace and make my path straight. I lean on Him as my rock when everything else feels like sand.

6. How has being a Christian changed your life?

Being Christian has changed my life for the better in so many ways! The biggest difference for me is having a peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). God is always there no matter what and that is what I need as a high school student. With the stress from school, friends and social media (basically everything), I remember that God is always there and has the power to provide peace and make my path straight. I lean on Him as my rock when everything else feels like sand.

“A Spiritual Intensive For Our Family”: Amelia’s KEC Story

For Amelia and her family, Katoomba Easter Convention (KEC) isn’t just a yearly event—it’s a cherished tradition that has shaped their faith over the years. From attending as a teenager in the Junior High program to now bringing her own children along, Amelia shares why KEC is a “spiritual intensive” for the family, equipping them with the tools to stand firm in their faith.

1. Please introduce your family!

Hi my name is Amelia and I am married to Pete. We have two daughters, Norah, who is 4 years old and Florence, who is 6 months. We go to Maitland Evangelical Church in the Hunter Valley and together we’ve attended about ten KEC’s. Plus, we’ve volunteered on the Junior High team and we’ve listened online.

2. What made you start attending KEC?

Initially, I came along to KEC with my family and I attended the Junior High program. It was freezing cold that year and we were all squeezed into Clairvaux. I remember the talks were on the theme of ‘Killing the Me-First Monster.”

Being from rural NSW, my first KEC was quite an impactful experience because at the time I only had one other Christian friend, and the concept of actively fighting against our sinfulness was pretty unfamiliar.

Going to KEC that first time brought forth so much fruit in my life because it encouraged me to develop healthy spiritual habits, plus it was super fun! Now that I am Mum, I’ve been praying that KEC will be an encouragement to my girls just like it was me!

Now that I am Mum, I’ve been praying that KEC will be an encouragement to my girls just like it was me!

3. What is the highlight of your KEC experience?

Picking just one highlight is such a tough task because each year I am so richly blessed. However, last year we decided to take our daughter Norah along to the night program despite it being well past her bedtime. After the shared dinner in the courtyard, we went into the auditorium and Norah was immediately excited by the buzz. She was welcomed by many different people and was so comfortable that when the music started, she sang along and danced in the aisle.

It was particularly encouraging for me because it gave me a real sense of God’s big family and it gave us a chance to worship together. Moreover, I was really grateful that she felt like the ‘big program’ was as much for her as it was for the adults. If you’re apprehensive about taking your kids along to the night program, don’t be!

4. How has KEC encouraged you and your kids’ faith?

Norah recently had the opportunity to complete an ‘intensive week’ at our local swim school. And although she can already swim, she attended 6 lessons over the week and was taught the survival skills she needed to feel confident in the water. I feel as though KEC is a bit of a spiritual intensive for our family, teaching us the survival skills we need to stay firm in the faith.

I feel as though KEC is a bit of a spiritual intensive for our family, teaching us the survival skills we need to stay firm in the faith.

My husband and I always learn something new about the character of God and as a result, we’re refreshed, renewed and convicted. We leave KEC confident that God will continue to be faithful throughout whatever hardships we might face in the coming year.

Likewise, the kids program spurred my daughter on to tell her friends about Jesus. She still remembers the songs she sang and she often talks about going back to “Easter-Vention”

5. Why would you recommend KEC to other families?

In the past, KEC has been freezing cold, our family has been over-tired, we’ve spent an hour waiting in traffic and we’ve exhausted ourselves trying to carry our daughter up that massive hill! But each and every year, we have been spurred on to love Christ more. KEC has yielded so much spiritual growth in each of us that it’s worth all the inconveniences.

And plus, the inconveniences are the exact same as the ones you’d be having if you’d stayed home! So why not experience them alongside a thousand other Christians in the beautiful Blue Mountains! The KEC coordinators have done a really great job of making the convention accessible for families. There is a well-equipped parent’s room and there is always someone who is happy to help out if you need.

There’s something for everyone at KEC. We can’t wait to see you in the mountains over Easter!

Why Every Young Christian Should Experience KYCK: Estelle’s Story

KYCK has been a cornerstone of Estelle’s spiritual journey for the past five years. In this story, she reflects on the highlights from KYCK24, what impacted them most, and why they believe KYCK is something that every young Christian should experience.

1. Introduce yourself and how many KYCKs have you been to?

My name is Estelle and I’m in Year 12. I attend Wilton Anglican Youth. I’ve been to KYCKs for 5 years so far (including KYCK online!)

2. Tell us a KYCK highlight!

KYCK24 was so much fun, I had a blast! A weekend away to get to know those in my youth group better, to build our relationships with one another and spur each other on in Christ. The music was amazing as always, I loved how much everyone got into it, especially with the songs “Praise” and “Take You at Your Word” which I have had on non-stop repeat since. The talks really encouraged me and others in my youth group to think about our identity in Christ. Seeing so many of my friends commit themselves to Christ on Saturday night was very emotional. God’s presence in that shed was definitely felt and it was incredible.

3. How has KYCK encouraged your faith?

The talks at KYCK are always so practical, easy to make links to and apply to my life. Seeing so many Christians in one space is amazing. It encourages me in my faith journey and serves as a reminder that we’re not alone, that we have Christian brothers and sisters from all over going through life with us too.

4. Why would you recommend KYCK to others?

KYCK is honestly the highlight of my year. Time away with your brothers and sisters in Christ is a great way to build yourself and each other up in faith and get to know each other better. The talks, the games, the music, friendship and God… what’s not to love? The atmosphere is so great it’s hard to describe, you have to go to understand it. If you’re wondering whether to go or not, give it a try and I promise you, you won’t want to go back!

5. How has being a Christian changed your life?

Christianity changes the way I view things in my day-to-day life. Knowing that I have a God-given purpose and that I’m living my life for Jesus makes me want to do everything to the best of my ability. It also helps me gain a better perspective on what I value most in my life.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend KYCK at the best price! Early bird tickets are only available until February 9, so now is the perfect time to secure your spot. Gather your friends and rally your youth group! Head to the KYCK website today to grab your tickets before prices go up!

Help Light a Spark in the Next Generation

KCC began its ministry to young people 50 years ago, and it is one of the best things the ministry has done in its 120 years. It has impacted hundreds and thousands of lives, and under God, it has been taken by Him from strength to strength.

One example is our KYCK ministry. Every year, across the four weekends, somewhere between 200 and 500 teens make either first-time commitments or re-commitments of their lives to Jesus Christ. And this has been happening every year for at least 20 years.

We want to see the same impact in the lives of Young Adults, so we’ve announced the launch of Spark Conference in 2025, and we need your help to give it a strong footing.

Why Young Adults?

Every year at KYCK, we say goodbye to a large cohort of Year 12 students as they finish high school. The question for us is, what do these kids step into after they step out of high school? What happens after KYCK?

What all of us need, but especially young adults, is something that keeps shining the light of God’s truth onto life. Young adults need something that reminds them that life has been given to them to glorify the Giver. Something that reminds them to lay their life down before God and ask Him, “What do you want me to do?”

We believe Spark is that “something” for Young Adults – a convention that urges them not to waste their life, but to consecrate it to God for His use. An event that they can step in to immediately after they step out of high school.

We have this opportunity to run a pilot event in 2025, and if successful, turn it into an annual event for years to come.

Whether you have a young adult in your family, or group of friends, or not, we are asking you to consider investing in them and sow into them.

Click the link and donate before 31 December and help us to continue the work of the ministry: https://kcc.org.au/YA25

Why Conference?

Have you ever felt the need to break out of the everyday, or feel stuck in some area of your life and faith?

We can keep doing what we’re doing and pray we’ll see some change – but sometimes that change comes through shifting what we do, or commit to doing.

Conferences aren’t the silver bullet for our life questions, but often they can be one small catalyst for change in our lives. We have seen lives transformed through the ministry here at KCC: vital seeds sown at BASECAMP that have gone on to make over marriages; convictions set in at KEC that finally changed a daily habit; new commitments to Christ at KYCK, or doubting seekers softened at OneLove.

Do you long for something different in your faith or life right now?

Could we encourage you to commit to a day (or a weekend) spent at BASECAMP or OneLove this August? Bring friends or family, and soak in the time under God’s Word together.

This August at BASECAMP Men’s Conference we’ll be looking at how we build brotherhood, looking at Jesus as our model and inspiration. At OneLove Women’s Conference we’re tackling our battle with complacency in the everyday, and how knowing the joy of being a child of God will help us in this.

Join us at BASECAMP this August – only 3 weeks left!

BASECAMP men’s conference runs over two weekends in three different formats:

  • BASECAMP Sydney (3 August 2024) – A one-day recharge held at the UNSW Roundhouse in Kensington
  • BASECAMP Mountains (9–10 August 2024) – An overnight retreat held at StayKCC in Katoomba
  • BASECAMP Online (9–10 August 2024) – An online livestream of BASECAMP Mountains that can be aired from your church hall, lounge room or shed!

Make sure you purchase your tickets before 28 July (AEDT), before Last Minute rates apply!

Special discounts also apply for students, interstate and regional delegates. Click here for more information.

OneLove women’s conference is happening on Saturday 24th August at the Hillsong Convention Centre. Tickets are now available from our website: https://onelovewomen.com/register/
